Sifnos Hiking
Sifnos is an excellent destination for hiking in the Cyclades, having an array of marked routes that connect the island's main villages and settlements with some of its finest spots! Hike from Artemonas to Kamares, enjoy mountainside views, visit a wide variety of beaches, and see sights such as churches, caves, lakes, and old ruins!
Below are some of the recommended marked trails that one can follow on Sifnos.
We highly recommend that all hikers carry enough water, take the necessary sun protection measures, and wear shoes suitable for hiking. For the longer trails, it is best to bring food and basic first aid supplies.
Marked routes
• Trail 1: The Eternal Capitals (Agios Andreas - Artemonas)
Starting from the acropolis and the archaeological site of Agios Andreas, move through the countryside and find the Monastery of Panagia Vryssiani. Then, descend before reaching the old capital of Sifnos, Kastro, as well as Artemonas.

• Trail 1a: Firogia - Agios Andreas
Take this ascending walk to reach the site of Agios Andreas from Firogia, south of Apollonia.

• Trail 2: Towards the Miraculous Saint (Kastro - Panagia Chrysopigi)
From the picturesque Kastro, head south and pass by some of the finest sights of the island, including Agios Ioannis Siderou Church, the village of Faros, and the beaches of Apokofto and Vlicho.

• Trail 3: The Agricultural Road (Apollonia - Platis Gialos)
Travel through this trail from Apollonia to Kato Petali, the Monastery of Panagia Vryssiani, and the beach of Platis Gialos.

• Trail 3a: Tholos - Panagia Chrysopigi
Instead of traveling to Platis Gialos from Tholos, take a left turn to reach Apokofto Beach and Panagia Chrissopigi Church, as well as the homonym Chrissopigi Beach.

• Trail 4: Cedars, Olive Trees and the Sea (Platis Gialos - Fikiada looping trail)
This trail in Sifnos allows you to pass by Platis Gialos, the remote church of Profitis Ilias Kondou, the bay of Fikiada, and an old, abandoned mansion in the area of Moussia.

This small derail from Spilia Megalogianni allows you to reach the seaside village of Vathi.

• Trail 5: The Hidden Sides of Sifnos (Apollonia - Panagia tou Niliou - Vathi)
Begin your hike from Apollonia and travel through a narrow path to reach the settlement of Katavati, the church of Angeloktisti, the hidden valley of Skafi, and two rocky crags named Froudia Baronas.

The longest trail of Sifnos Island, this route from Apollonia passes churches, olive groves, the valley of Skafi, and the famous Steno Street.

• Trail 6a: Kamares - Kapsalos
Linking the seaside Kamares to the main path, this rough trail passes by the Mavri Spilia cave, which offers excellent views over the village.
