General information

The seaside settlement of Vathi is located on the southwestern side of Sifnos, about 10 km from Apollonia. This lovely village has become one of the most popular destinations on the island, attracting visitors with its natural ambiance and quiet charm. Undoubtedly the biggest attraction in the area is the homonymous Vathi Beach, a charming, picturesque bay that runs along the edge of the village.

Vathi Beach boasts a striking, golden shoreline that stretches for more than 1 kilometer, making this one of the biggest beaches on the island. Its waters are crystal blue and relatively shallow, creating the ideal conditions for swimming, especially for families with younger kids. The surrounding high cliffs tower over the waters and add an air of seclusion to this idyllic spot. On the beach's northern end, visitors will also notice the chapel of Taxiarchis, distinguished by its white-washed exterior with blue accents.

Along the beach, you will find numerous beach facilities, including sunbeds and umbrellas that are available to rent. There are also plenty of trees offering natural shade for some moments of relaxation. Just behind the shore, you will find a collection of bars, restaurants, and cafes that serve delectable food and refreshing drinks, perfect for cooling down after a day at the beach. What is more, there is a water sports center that offers visitors the opportunity to partake in fun activities such as serf biking and stand-up paddling. They also provide boat rentals for those looking the explore the beautiful waters of the island.

The wider region of Vathi hosts an impressive hotel complex, along with plenty of rooms and apartments that lie right next to the sea. One can easily reach Vathi via an asphalt road from Apollonia. The duration of the trip should not take more than 20 minutes, during which you will pass by some wonderful rural landscapes.

Beachside for families

Our room was in a walking distance (not more than 5 min) from the relaxing beach of Vathy, so we would go there every morning. Swimming in the clean water till midday, then going for lunch in the lovely taverns above the beach and in the afternoon heading to the other villages of Sifnos for coffee. There is a nice beach bar in Vathi and we could listen to the music from our balcony. No watersports or other things that spoil the relaxing ambiance of vacations. A real nice place for families and people who like quiet things.
