Water sports centers provide all the necessary equipment for fun water activities, including paddleboarding and waterskiing. Lining the beach are various bars, cafes, and restaurants inviting beach-goers for a cold drink and nice local food. Plenty of accommodation options can be found here, offering easy access to the idyllic beach. On the left side of the beach, you will notice a small port, where fishing boats are usually moored.
Access to Platis Gialos is made easy through the public bus system, with frequent buses from Apollonia making stops right at the edge of the beach. You can also reach the beach by private vehicle, with the ride from Apollonia taking around 15 minutes and a parking area located nearby. Finally, many hotels in Platis Giallos offer private shuttle transfers to the beach from the ferry port in Kamares upon request.
On your way to Platis Gialos, you will pass by a couple of interesting sights that are worth a visit. At the top of the hill overlooking the beach stands the Monastery of Panagia tou Vounou offering breathtaking panoramic views of the blue sea. On the southern side of the beach lies Aspros Pyrgos (White Tower), one of the best-preserved ancient towers of Sifnos.

efitry098 22 Sep 2008Popular among young peopleI believe Platis Gialos is the most popular place on Sifnos. You will see mnay young people there having a drink at the beach bars and most of them are very friendly and would easily have a chat with you. The village is not big but it has many gift stores and delicious taverns. I didn't see much watersports on Platis Gialos or sun beds. Better get your own umbrella. The beach is sandy and very clean, you will love it and next day, you will be back to Platis Gialos!
