Sifnos Kamares beach

General information

The charming village of Kamares lies on the western side of Sifnos, about 5 km northwest of Apollonia. This large coastal settlement serves as the island’s main port and is a bustling tourist destination. One of the area's highlights is the pristine Kamares Beach, which stretches along the edge of the settlement.

Kamares Beach is characterized by its golden sand and crystal clear waters that are relatively shallow and ideal for swimming. The area is well-protected from the northern summer winds, affording the sea nice calmness. If you love sunbathing then Kamares is the right destination for you as it provides numerous spots for relaxation on the soft sand. The middle section of the beach has a handful of trees that create some natural shady spots. The surrounding landscape is dominated by imposing mountains and rugged rock formations.

The beach offers sunbeds and umbrellas to rent, along with plenty of open space for those who prefer to bring a towel to lie on. The beach bar on the northern end of the beach includes an open deck with sun loungers and wonderful panoramic views of the sea. A few cafes and restaurants can be found here as well, perfect for a nice lunch and refreshing drink. Just behind the beach, you will also come across a small soccer field and a playground for the younger visitors. The wider region hosts plenty of accommodations for all different budgets and preferences.

Kamares is well-connected with the rest of the island via public buses. Frequent buses coming from Apollonia and other popular spots make a stop just 5 minutes from the beach, allowing for very easy access. Those traveling by private vehicle will be pleased to find a spacious parking area just behind the beach. It is worth mentioning that Kamares is connected to the small and quite picturesque settlement of Agia Marina which is worth a visit and is recommended for those who want to stay away from the noisy crowds.
