Sifnos Cheronissos beach

General information

Cheronissos is a traditional fishing village located at the northern tip of Sifnos. It is considered one of the most beautiful spots on the island and is famous for its unspoiled beauty and quiet ambiance. The village is built along a small bay, at the southern end of which lies an idyllic beach.

Cheronissos Beach stretches for about 200 meters, boasting golden sand and glistening blue waters. The bay is well-protected from the northern winds, offering a tranquil swimming and diving experience for beach-goers. Although there are no sunbeds or umbrellas available, the smattering of trees along the coast provides plenty of shade to rest under. The combination of the lush greenery with the serene atmosphere and secluded location makes this the ideal spot for total relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of busier resorts.

Some nice taverns lie right on the sandy beach offering excellent Greek specialties and refreshing drinks. The wider region of Cheronissos also hosts a mini-market and a handful of accommodations. Of much interest is the pottery shop situated just behind the beach, displaying beautiful handmade ceramics and preserving the long-standing pottery traditions of the village. On the left side of the beach, visitors will also notice the monastery of Agios Polycarpos, distinguished by its striking white-washed exterior.

Access to Cheronissos is made possible through a 25-minute long drive from Apollonia. The road will take you through some beautiful sceneries along the way, allowing you to explore the more rural part of the island. If you are not traveling with a private vehicle, you can choose to travel by bus, with buses departing from Apollonia, as well as the villages of Vathi and Artemonas making stops at Cheronissos.
