Wine Museum & Wine Tasting (Audioguide)
General Description
In the area of Vothonas, lies the Koutsogiannopoulos Wine Museum - a museum dedicated to the process of winemaking. It’s nestled in a beautiful location inside a cave. The museum needed 20 years to complete and now constitutes one of the top cultural sites of the Cyclades complex.
This unique experience includes discovering ancient wine traditions in the crisp ambiance of the old cellars, as well as a wine tasting of four local types of wine with an entertaining sommelier (trained wine professional).
The building is a wonder in terms of architecture and design? a sculpted labyrinth in a 300-meter-long cave eight meters under the ground’s surface.
You have the chance to admire this marvelous structure while checking out historical exhibits.
Additionally, you’ll get a glimpse of how the life of a winemaker was (starting from the 1600s onwards), and see rare tools and machinery.
The tour of the museum lasts around 40 minutes. There’s an option of a guidebook (available in 22 languages) or/and an audio guide (available in 14 languages).
Then comes the visit to one of the beautiful wineries on the island. You will be offered four of the best wines made at the winery and dive into an hour-long tasting experience taking place in a specially made setting.
We recommend savoring Ambelones (red wine), Assyrtiko (white wine), Orange Wine (white wine), and Kamaritis (dessert red wine).
Individuals under the age of 18 are offered alcohol-free beverages.
The duration of the whole experience is approximately 2 hours.
