The Mediterranean Diving Club, established in Perissa Beach in 1998, is a reputed center for diving and imparts a range of courses, from snorkeling for the beginner to PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) advanced open water diving.
The MDC is run by Mr. Christos Pozidis, a retired Naval officer, who had served in the underwater demolition unit as a dive bomber instructor for over 15 years. Theoretical instruction is provided at the MDC through sophisticated means, such as computers, projectors and DVDs. The school is PADI 5 IDC CENTER, the highest certification for PADI dive centers, and is also certified with ISO: 9001/2000 for its courses and services.
The center offers a variety of courses for all age groups. From diving courses for beginners or children to training courses for diving instructors and rescue personnel, the center has it all. Dives to the wreck site is especially an exhilarating experience with good visibility and lots of small fish and marine life, including groupers, lobsters, octopus, moray eels and the most beautiful of all: schools of gregarious dolphins.
The diving trip to the underwater caves and caverns which reveals a burst of color and lots of small fish is quite a thrilling experience even for the experienced diver, and the dive boat takes a small snack break at a bay with a charming little chapel. There are also other diving itineraries to various sites. The center has two high-speed vessels to conduct diving excursions.
