The Dominican Convent of Santorini is ideally situated in the predominantly Catholic quarters of Fira, the capital of the island, in the town's center.
The Convent hosts twelve nuns of different nationalities and comprises a venerated convent for people belonging to the Christian faith. Inside lies the church of Our Lady of the Rosary (a Marian title for Catholics), which is conspicuous by its marvelous traditional architectural brilliance.

The church's baroque features have drawn the attention of historians and archaeologists. In fact, a visit to this magnificent Convent offers a fascinating insight into the high degree of craftsmanship that prevailed in Santorini during medieval times.
There is a street that meanders through the Convent and, if you are lucky, you can hear the nuns singing Vespers.
Note that the convent's premises are not open to the public.
Nonetheless, guests can pay a visit to the church of Our Lady of the Rosary.
How to get there
The Dominican Convent of Santorini is located in Fira, just a 10-minute walk from the Central bus station and 6 minutes from a private parking lot.
Private transfers: We recommend using an online pre-booked transfer service, which provides transfer by taxi, minibus, or private VIP car and arranging a pickup directly from your hotel. Car rental: There’s the option of renting a car and picking it up directly from your hotel. You can then visit the Museum of musical instruments but also many other places of interest.
Public transfers: Fira is where the central bus station of the island is located. Bus connections between this bus station and most areas of the island are available. Note that time schedules might change according to the season. Check the official timetables here. Tip:Since buses don’t always stop at every scheduled stop of their itinerary, our advice to visitors is to inform the driver about their final destination in advance.
