The Syrtaki Restaurant is located in Kamari, the famous south-eastern seaside resort on the island of Santorini, known for its spectacular black sand beaches and exciting nightlife. With a fabulous view to the beach, Syrtaki is a popular restaurant that offers tasty fare and an informal dining experience.
The cuisine is mainly traditional Greek, and the starter list is extensive with tasty items, such as tomato balls, grilled feta cheese and the Santorinian specialty of mashed split peas and eggplant. The main courses include moussaka, stifado, lamb kleftiko, and stuffed tomatoes. There is also a wide selection of grilled seafood (sardines, squids and red mullet), which are very tasty, as also are other dishes like pepper steak, "garne" filet with roast potato, veal chop with filet and shrimp saganaki with local wine. The wine list includes an authentic selection of white and red wines of Santorini.
The restaurant also hosts social events, such as wedding receptions and other parties. Set against the backdrop of black sands of the Kamari and occasionally with live Greek music and dancing, Syrtaki is quite an exotic venue for private celebrations. If you happen to visit the restaurant during Easter, it is a lovely experience. Easter celebrations at Syrtaki are very much in keeping with the Santorinian traditions and they celebrate this important religious feast by spitting the lamb and dancing to live Greek music.
