General information

The quaint village of Kerami is located in the Tragea Valley, between the villages of Halki and Filoti. It was officially recognized as a settlement of Naxos in 1935 and today houses around 150 inhabitants. The village is characterized by its white-washed houses, narrow streets, and magnificent views of the nearby olive groves.

At the center of the village, you will find the parish church of the settlement dedicated to Agios Taxiarchis. Some traditional cafes and tavernas are scattered near the church. The 18th-century Markopolitis Tower stands out as a prime example of Venetian architecture and now houses a modern museum that is worth a visit.

Another significant sight is the 13th-century Byzantine Church of Agios Ioannis which is nestled among a collection of olive trees. Near Kerami also lies the abandoned village of Metochi, which features the architecturally unique Church of Agioi Apostoloi.
