Location: Town

The small and picturesque church of Panagia Mirtidiotissa is located on a rocky reef in the old port of Naxos Town. Atop it, the locals built this small church to protect the ships that arrive at and depart from the port.

The chapel and islet are dedicated to the Virgin Mary. One can visit the islet exclusively via boat.

The locals highly esteem this small church, and many shops, boats, and unions are named after it.

A celebration takes place every year on September 24 in honor of the Virgin Mary.

How to get there

The church of Panagia Mirtidiotissa can only be accessed via boat from the port of Naxos.

    Cute in the evening
Naxos has probably the most stunning port in Greece. Now, imagine it during night... You are walking along the port, the lights of the town make the water and ships glow and in the middle of all that, a tiny little island with a church on it, shining like a sun.
    Very cute scenery.
