Damalas is located in the heart of Naxos, about 15 km southeast of Chora. As you enter the charming village you will run into Manolis Limpertas Pottery, an artisan pottery shop that upholds the area’s pottery-making traditions. Manolis Limpertas is a fourth-generation ceramist who employs traditional techniques, crafting products for both functional and decorative purposes.
Visitors are offered a tour of the workshop, which includes learning about the various pottery tools and experiencing firsthand the pottery-making process. Many of Manolis’s hand-crafted items are on display, like the sfouni, a traditional vessel used to extract and serve wine. A nice selection of clay items is also available for purchase, making for the perfect souvenir from your visit to Damalas.
