Cooking Class with locals
General Description
Participants in this tour will acquire an insightful look into Mykonian cuisine and traditional cooking methods. This six-hour course is hosted by Teta, a local chef, who will provide all the useful information and tips for successfully preparing a full-course meal! In addition, the class takes place in a Mykonian family home, creating a welcoming, friendly environment for the guests.
The dishes that will be prepared include both starters, side dishes and main courses. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to make the famous Greek spread tzatziki, traditional spinach pie, beef with orzo and stuffed tomatoes and peppers, among others. During the class, they will be able to taste local snacks, such as dakos, a dried bread accompanied by tomato, cheese and olive oil. Local wines and Cretan raki are also available.
The class can take place either during the day or evening and is always followed by lunch or dinner, where participants get to try the dishes they created. They will also have the chance to visit the hostess’ organic vegetable garden and receive a complimentary, small bag full of local products to take home. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult, while alterations can be made to the recipes in case of allergies.
Pick-up and drop-off are part of the schedule, and participants can choose the location as long as they inform the organizers before the tour.
