Kythnos Kanala

General information

Featuring a small pine forest, the only one in the Cyclades complex, Kanala is a small coastal village, presenting the classic Cycladic architecture and the Greek islands' way of living.
It is mainly intertwined with the church of Panagia Kanala, the most known church in Kythnos and its patron saint. The icon of the Virgin Mary housed in it is believed to have healing powers and attracts many pilgrims yearly.

Kanala is ideal for a refreshing and rejuvenating vacation. The beautiful Megali Ammos Beach completes the image of the village, which is perfect for swimming and safe for children. The low-profile Ammoudaki next to Megali Ammos is a great choice if you seek more quiet, while Antonides, on the other side of the rock where Panagia Kanala stands, is a beach mainly attracting young people, as access to it is more challenging.

Providing taverns, accommodation options, and a couple of cafes as well, the village is the ideal escape from the hustle and bustle.

Kanala lies 11.5 km from the port of Kythnos in Merichas and 10.5 km from the island's capital, Chora. It is reachable by both car and bus.
