The only village in Koufonisia is Chora, which serves as the island’s capital and port. The settlement looks very traditional, presenting all the typical features of Cycladic architecture, such as whitewashed houses, blue-domed chapels, and narrow cobblestone alleys.
As the center of activity, it boasts most of Koufonisia’s tourist amenities, including shops, cafes, taverns and accommodations.
Also, boats and water taxis depart from its port, making the tour of the island’s beaches and operating routes to the enchanting islet of Kato Koufonisi.
