Most hotels there are small apartments within short walking distance of the beach.

KOUFONISIA, A TINY ISLAND WITH VERY FEW OPTIONS
Koufonisia is a complex of two small islands located in the Cyclades, east of Naxos.
- Ano Koufonisi (or Upper Koufonisi) is the one inhabited and a popular yet alternative holiday destination.
You will find hotels, shops, and restaurants.
- Kato Koufonisi (or Lower Koufonisi) is uninhabited. It has only one taverna and some very interesting beaches and caves to visit.
The two islands are really close and connected by a small fishing boat.
When we talk about hotels, we refer to Ano Koufonisi since it is the only one with infrastructure.
Koufonisia is a small island with moderate tourist development. The number of hotel units on the island remains limited due to the actual small size of the island.
Most of them are found at Chora, which is the port, and the island's main village. Some are also scattered in different locations on the island such as Finikas.
The majority of accommodation options are small, family-run units, rooms-to-let as well as some beach houses.
They are either new or recently renovated structures and consist of well-equipped rooms, a small kitchenette, and a terrasse offering a beautiful sea view.
If you are looking for a lavish stay, you will find a few luxury hotels, which are mainly small suites and villas.
The island combines a cosmopolitan atmosphere with laid-back vibes. Due to its size, a car is not necessary especially if you book a hotel conveniently located.
Transportation can be made by bus, boat or on foot. There is only 1 taxi on the island.
Many travellers choose Koufonisia for its boho-chic character, fascinating turquoise waters, and relaxed environment.
Some hotels are closer to the beach than others, but proximity to the sea is not an issue since all of them are just a short walking distance away from a fantastic beach.
Due to the limited number of hotels and the island’s popularity from July to September, early booking is strongly recommended.
Rooms sell out very quickly and it is impossible to find lodging if you wait until the last minute. Booking your hotel 4 to 5 months in advance is strongly recommended.
