General information

Commonly referred to as Italida (“the Italian woman”) after the owner of the adjoining property, Platia Pounda deservedly ranks among the most popular beaches in Koufonisia. During July and August in particular, it is flooded with visitors who come to revel in its fine golden sand and sparkling turquoise waters. It is an ideal choice on the days when the wind blows from the north, while the fact that it is surrounded by rocky coves makes it perfect for snorkeling.

Platia Pounda is completely non-organized, and the nearest eating establishment can be found in the adjacent Fanos Beach, which lies less than 400 meters away. To get there from Chora, you can either walk along the island’s seaside trail for about 35 minutes or hop on one of the water taxis that stop there while making the tour of the island.

Tip: Italida is often frequented by naturists, but if you would rather keep your swimsuit on, you’re sure not to feel like a fish out of water. Conversely, if you would prefer to avoid the boisterous crowds, you can head for the nearby Alejandra Beach.
