Koufonisia Ammos beach

Stretching right in front of the picturesque Chora, Ammos ranks among the most popular beaches in Koufonisia and is a favorite among the locals. Strewn with coarse white sand, it boasts dazzling turquoise waters and magnificent views of Keros and Glaronissi, which makes it one of the top spots on the island for enjoying the sun and the sea.

Though you will not find any beach amenities here, there is a sea ramp making Ammos easily accessible to people with impaired mobility. Moreover, its proximity to the settlement means that there are plenty of taverns where you can enjoy a scrumptious meal while gazing at the quaint fishing boats rock gently at their moorings. A few tamarisk trees also add to the beach's beauty, contrasting with the arid landscape of Koufonisia, but they are not enough to provide bathers with sufficient natural shade.

Overall, Ammos is one of the best swimming spots on those days when the wind blows from the north; nevertheless, it is susceptible to the southern winds, so it can often be choppy.
