Koufonisia Natural pool

The natural pool you will find halfway between Platia Pounda and Pori —one of the very few such wonders in the entire country— is, beyond the shadow of a doubt, the most unique swimming spot you will come across in Koufonisia. Formed by the primeval power of the sea as the waves gradually ate away at the tufa rocks, it boasts pristine waters that take on emerald hues and communicate with the sea via a narrow underwater passage. If you’re into diving, don’t forget to bring your scuba mask along, so as to navigate this narrow passage in safety!

Bonus info: Legend has it that this pool was created by none other than Poseidon, the god of the sea, who wished to make a gift of it to his beloved Nereids so that they could have fun there when they left their abode at the bottom of the sea.
