The Studio of Alekos Fassianos in Kea: Spotted on the northern side of Kea’s Chora, Ioulida, this building is of historical significance, given that it hosts revered artworks and a unique insight inside the mind of Greek painter Alekos Fassianos!
This atelier is the old residence of Fassianos, a house he decided to acquire in order to spend his summertime near the inspiring waters of the Aegean, creating at his own pace and indulging in his beloved fishing activities! A holiday home built in line with the traditional-style Cycladic architecture, it features wooden-beamed ceilings, and its exterior and interior walls are all whitewashed, whereas the wooden furniture and doors boast intricate, detailed designs from Fassianos himself!
Spot a variety of hand-painted household and common items, such as porcelain dishes, small-sized stones, and colorful vases! The atelier offers a deep dive into the renowned painter’s vision, his way of creating, and his general attitude towards life! Since 2023, shortly after the grand opening of Fassianos’ museum in Athens, the atelier in Kea is open to the public for visiting, as well as for hosting plentiful educational programs for young visitors!
The atelier is open Thursday to Sunday from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00 during the summer and early autumn months!
