Folegandros Lemon house (lemonospito)

Location: Ano Meria

Some very peculiar constructions that are found in the region of Ano Meria village are the Lemon houses (lemonospito in Greek). They are walls built from stone in a square or round shape and a lemon tree is planted in the middle. This method was used to protect the tree from the strong winds that blow on the island.
