The Ancient Sanctuary of Artemis in Folegandros, in the Cyclades: The site of the ancient sanctuary of Artemis is the place where the Church of the Assumption was built. Artemis was a patron Goddess of Sparta, associated with warriors, and adolescence.
Five conches from the 6th through the 3rd centuries BC were discovered at the site, which had inscribed upon them the word Apollo reinforcing the view that this sanctuary was dedicated to both Apollo and Artemis. It has not been possible to determine the floor plan of the temple but is definitely one of the most wonderful and beautiful creations of the uninhabited and pristine small islands of the region.
