Donoussa is one of the smallest islands of the Cyclades with a long tradition. This place is generally quiet but you can see many happenings, feasts, musical acts, and other activities throughout the year and especially during the summer. Some of the feasts worth seeing are:
Religious feasts & festivals
August 15th
On the 15th of August, the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin is celebrated in Donoussa with traditional music, dances and local dishes such as the famous patatato.
September 19th
On the 19th of September, the island celebrates the feast day of Agia Sofia at the homonymous church in the village of Mersini.
Cultural events
Summer Festival
The summer festival takes place in Donoussa island towards the end of the summer. It is held with the participation of Sikinos and Folegandros and it is part of the Isolario Cultural Project. The festival aims at the creation of a network among the small islands of Cyclades, in order to protect their cultural diversity and promote their development.
