eleanna 20 Sep 2008A lovely fishing villageGavrio is the port of Andros. It is the first town you meet when you enter the island. And the impression is good. Itactually looks like a fishing village. There are fishing boats in the harbour and old fishermen unfolding their nets. Some fish taverns line the dock and lovely cafeterias offer a precious cold drink, after so much heat in Greece! The gist shops are lovely and people do not press you to buy. I just noticed that there are not enough playgrounds for children, which is one thing to ameliorate in this lovely village.
