The gorgeous whitewashed Church of Stavros in Amorgos can be found in a very remote spot on the mountain of Krikelo, in the northeastern part of the island! It features a beautiful paved terrace, and upon entering the chapel, you will spot a small iconostasis with lots of icons, as well as an altar and a gilded candelabra for visitors!

Stavros houses its yearly celebrations on the 13th of September, a day when all believers hike from the village of Lagada to Stavros for about two and a half hours!
All hikers will witness the stunning views over the countryside, the mountains, and the Aegean before reaching Stavros, where they will gather around the church for the mass and then enjoy some traditional patatato and cooked octopus.
