Amorgos Secondary School

The Secondary School of Amorgos: As you wander around the streets of Chora, you will encounter the Secondary School of Amorgos. It is a whitewashed building with a large yard and a blue door. A Greek flag is raised outside it. This school building has a very long history. It was originally built in June 1828, at the Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa's expense.

In fact, it is the first secondary school built in Greece after the War of Independence in 1821. It was recently renovated and works till today but it has only a few students due to the island's small population.
