Rethymno Stavromenos beach

General information

Stavromenos Beach is a tranquil shore, 11 km east of Rethymno Town, and 500 meters from the village of the same name. The beach is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds for sunbathing, while a stroll up the hill slopes offers a beautiful view.

The Carretta-Carretta sea turtles visit the coast at night from May to September to lay their eggs. For this reason, a part of the beach may be protected and closed to visitors during these days.

There are a couple of traditional taverns nearby, serving scrumptious Cretan dishes and refreshing local drinks.
