General information

Perivolia Beach is located 2 km east of Rethymno Town, in the coastal neighborhood of the same name. This long sandy shore is a natural continuation of Rethymno Town Beach, open on the north side and exposed to the strong northern winds known as meltemia. The Caretta-Caretta turtle visits the coast to lay eggs every summer.

The beach is covered in fine sand mixed with pebbles and is quite well organized with umbrellas, sunbeds, and showers. There are plenty of hotels and other types of accommodation on the seaside. Many kinds of entertainment, food, and drinking options are available as well, such as restaurants, bars, and cafes. Watersports facilities can also be found, including jet skis, banana boats, and stingrays.

The beach is very close to the center of Rethymno, approximately 15 minutes on foot. You can also drive there or get a taxi, which will only take you about 3 minutes.

    It gets quiet windy
Perivolia is actually a small cove of the large beach of Rethymnon town. It was very windy when we went, in the evening as the locals told us that it usually gets windy after 3 or 4 o'clock in the afternoon. You will find nice taverns along Perivolia and many sun beds to lay on.
