Stayed in Panormo for a few years now its a lovely village . mostly three week with a stay in rethymnon town for a few days. beaches are quite busy . there are three one beach is used only by one hotel which the photo shows , so you cannot use the one you see. the others are less crowded . seafood is cheaper than England and very fresh in baba andreas taverna as they have there own boat.

julianreut 25 Feb 2009Lazy days under the sunWe stayed in a small hotel in Panormos to be close to the beach. Last time in Crete we had stayed in a hotel in the Old Town of Chania to be more picturesque, but this year we wanted sandy beaches and lazy days under the sun. Panormos in July was very crowded, but I think it would get more crowded in August, because this is when most people in Greece go on holidays. The bottom of the sea was rocky in some points. Close to the beach, there were many taverns to have lunch with delicious fresh sea food. Just have in mind that sea food in Greece is priced per kilo and it is quite expensive. Frozen sea food is more reasonable in price.

helen2645 26 May 2008Panormos beach very crowdedPanormos has many umbrellas and sun beds. I particularly liked to go swim in the evening because it was less crowded. In the daytime, the beach was full of children running all around and screaming and teenegers trying to get a cold drink from the beach bar. But in the evening children would go to their beds exhausted and I enjoyed my night swim. The beach is long and sandy, so you won't hurt your feet from pebbles.
