General information

Agios Georgios Beach is a secluded beach lying 62 km southeast of Rethymno Town and close to Agia Galini. It can be reached by private means or by boat from Agia Galini.

It consists of two pebbled coves separated by a rocky stretch of land. Though the area is not particularly developed for tourism, the eastern beach, which is called Lichnistis, has some umbrellas, sunbeds and showers, as well as some taverns and rooms to rent. If all you seek is just an isolated cove where you can enjoy total privacy, you can head for the western beach, which is known as Kolimbistiri. Weather conditions here are almost always mild, making Agios Georgios an ideal place for swimming.

While in the area, you can also pay a visit to the nearby Monastery of Agios Georgios, the "leaning church", as it is sometimes called on account of the ground's subsidence. There, you can admire some old frescoes.
