Amazonas Park is a private zoo located in northeastern Crete, between Malia and Agios Nikolaos. It first opened its doors in 2011 and has since served as a natural haven for a variety of animal species.
Amazonas Park features some animals native to Crete, such as goats and donkeys. However, its primary focus is on exotic animals from South America and other places of the world. Visitors can expect to see parrots from Latin America, cockatoos from Australia, monkeys from Gibraltar, and many more. Depending on the time of day, visitors are also given the chance to feed some of the animals, including monkeys and lemurs. The beautiful plants found in the park, like palm trees and exotic flowers, are also worth admiring.
The park is open every day from 09:30 to 18:00 during the summer. It is the perfect spot for vacationing families looking for an equal parts fun and educational experience. Families with small kids will also be pleased to know that ticket discounts are offered for children up to 17 years old, while entrance is free for children under 3.
