General information

Tis Grias to Pidima, translated as The Old Woman’s Jump Beach, is a secluded cove in the area of Ierapetra. Also known as Bonda Beach, it lies just 1 kilometer after Achlia Beach, on the road to Makrigialos. Surrounded by high rocks, it is not visible from the road, so visitors need to be careful not to drive past it.

It is a pebbly beach with crystalline waters and the few large rocks that lie scattered around give a nice touch to the landscape. It is not organized and there are no tourist facilities whatsoever, but, if you prefer to take a dip away from large crowds, Tis Grias to Pidima is a good choice.

Its singular name is due to a local story. According to the legend, an old woman jumped off the cliffs here in order not to get caught by the Turks who were pursuing her.
