General information

Tenda is a secluded rocky area located at the most north-eastern side of Crete, 29 km from Sitia and 7 km from Vai. While overrun by rocky formations and cliffsides, some bays in the area feature some small beaches.

The bays are sandy, and the waters are deep blue and crystal clear. The west bay, simply known as Tenda, is exposed to west winds that create some huge waves. Meanwhile, Eligas, the bay to the east, provides somewhat calmer waters that are ideal for activities such as windsurfing. The abundant waters of the deep, rocky bottom also attract local fishermen, with many different types of fish living on the rocks.

The beaches offer no amenities, such as umbrellas and sunbeds, so make sure to come well-equipped if you’re planning on visiting the area.
