General information

Located just 12 kilometers west of Sitia and 60 kilometers east of Agios Nikolaos, Papadiokampos Beach is a wild isolated shore with large imposing rocks and a rocky bottom. A few meters north of the nearby settlement, there is also a pebbly cove, which is more suitable for swimming.

These beaches are not organized and there are hardly any facilities in the surrounding area, as the strong winds and the tall waves keep most people away. If you’re a windsurfing enthusiast, though, Papadiokampos is just the place for you! Also known as Faneromeni among windsurfing fans, on account of its proximity to the Faneromeni Monastery, it is one of the very best spots for wave sailing, with waves sometimes reaching a height of 3-4 meters. Visitors who seek to indulge their passion in a completely pristine, wild setting will need to come prepared with all the necessary supplies, and, of course, be very careful as there are a few dangerous spots too.

The beach can be accessed through a dirt road, while the closest facilities can be found in Sitia.
