Lassithi Kouremenos beach

General information

Stretching between Cape Tenda and Kastri Hill, with its scant ruins of a medieval fort, Kouremenos Beach is the longest beach in the area of Palekastro. It is a lovely beach with fine sand and shallow light-blue waters that are usually calm near the shore.

The beach is well-organized with umbrellas, showers and a couple of fish taverns, but it stands out as one of the best windsurfing and kitesurfing destinations in Lassithi. Indeed, as the strong northwestern winds (the so-called meltemia) pass through the Sitia Mountains, they are accelerated, creating ideal conditions for water sports lovers. Windsurfing schools operate in the area, and it is possible to arrange a class or just rent the necessary equipment and plunge yourself into these exhilarating activities.
