General information

Located east of the seaside Sissi village, on the northern coast of Lassithi, Mpoufos Beach lies near the exit of the Selinari Gorge, at the point where the Agiasmenos Creek opens into the sea.

This formerly organized beach boasts turquoise waters and a combination of sand and rocks. This makes it demanding for little children, so it is advisable to be equipped with water shoes. Being exposed to the northern summer winds, the so-called meltemia, the sea at Mpoufos Beach can also get quite choppy.

To the east of Mpoufos, visitors can find the ruins of the homonymous Minoan settlement. The discovery of the ruins means that the area cannot be developed for tourism, which is why it is no longer organized.

Access from other beaches of Sissi is very easy, as the beach is only a 10-minute walk from the village.
