General information

Located around 20 km south of Agios Nikolaos, one can detect a small beach named Frouzis. Framed by rocky scenery, Frouzis offers tranquility and a sense of escape. The beach is pebbly and unorganized with blue-green waters. The rugged cliffs team up with the astonishing turquoise waves creating an amazing scenery for the visitors.

This secluded paradise is the perfect place for swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, and exploring the nearby caves. The waves provide a soothing backdrop for a memorable beach day near nature! Since Frouzis is unorganized, it is vital to carry some supplies, such as cool water, sunscreen, snacks and an umbrella. Special sea shoes may be needed as one can find walking on the rocky terrain quite challenging.

If you are a history enthusiast, just a few km away, you can find the renowned Archaeological Site of Gournia, a Minoan settlement, built on a hill, part of Crete’s vibrant past. Two Orthodox churches are found nearby, namely Panagia of Gournia and Agia Pelagia.
