General information

The secluded Stena Beach lies 73 kilometers southwest of Heraklion Town, near the location where, according to tradition, Saint Paul stayed during his travel to Crete.

It is a pebbly beach with beautiful turquoise waters that are ideal for snorkeling. A narrow passage formed between the shore and a massive rock jutting out of the sea gives it a unique touch of natural beauty. The beach is not organized and there aren’t any tourist facilities whatsoever, so you will need to be equipped with all the necessary provisions. Nevertheless, it is well worth stopping there if you happen to be in the area.

Opposite Stena Beach, you will see the Megalonisi or Pompiano islet, on which stands a lighthouse.

You can access the beach from the more famous Kali Limenes, around 1 kilometer away.
