General information

Around 74 kilometers south of Heraklion Town, to the east of the Chrysostomos settlement and the archaeological site of Lasaia, you will come across the secluded Maha Beach.

Maha is pebbly and rocky, so few people choose to go swimming there even in high season. However, it boasts clear blue waters and affords a great sense of privacy, so that you feel as if you had your own private beach. On the eastern side, you will find a small natural cave that opens up at the base of a reddish rock.

The beach is not organized and offers no facilities like umbrellas, sunbeds or toilets, so you should be prepared and bring everything you need with you. However, above the beach, there is a tavern where you can sample local delicacies while enjoying the great sea views.

The beach is accessible through a short dust trail starting at the tavern.
