General information

Mades Beach is a small hidden gem on the Trypitis Cape in the Achladia region. It can be found 20 km northwest of Heraklion Town, 4 km from Agia Pelagia Beach and 1 km from Lygaria Beach.

The shore is covered in thick sand and pebbles, and the location is adorned with palm trees, plants, and colorful flowers. The water has a vibrant light blue color and the rocky seabed is ideal for snorkeling as the water is full of different kinds of fish.
The coast is only 77 meters long but wide, capable of hosting approximately 250 people. It is pet-friendly and fully organized, with sunbeds and umbrellas provided by the 5-star hotel in the area. Alternatively, there is free space to sit on the sand. You can also find wastebaskets, bins, and showers.

Mades Beach is a great choice for those who avoid large crowds and noise, as it is quiet and tranquil. It is preferred by the locals, who have built their cottages around it. The most distinct characteristic of Mades are the two small rocks located in the water, on the western side of the beach. It has also been awarded a Blue Flag, which proves it is safe, clean, and lives up to high environmental standards.

On the coast, you can find a few rooms to rent and a mini market, while you can get food and drinks from the beach bar of the local hotel. Alternatively, you can go to the taverns at Lygaria Beach and enjoy delicious traditional dishes. In addition, if you’re adventurous and enjoy trying new activities, canoes and pedalos are available for rent at Mades.
