General information

Fodele Beach is a charming shore located 3 km from the village of the same name and 26 km southwest of Heraklion Town. The coast is covered in white sand and pebbles, and its crystalline waters showcase lovely shades of blue and turquoise.

The western side of the beach is organized with sunbeds, umbrellas, and showers. If you’re looking for places to eat and drink, the area offers some cafes and traditional taverns where you can taste delicious local specialties. The eastern side is an unorganized and more secluded shore, where you can enjoy a swim far from the crowd and the noise.

An interesting fact is that the village of Fodele is renowned for being the birthplace of the famous painter El Greco, one of the most prominent figures of Cretan painting and iconography.
