Olive oil and wine tasting at Anoskeli jeep adventure
General Description
This is a guided jeep safari tour, with door to door pick up, where you will have the chance to see life in Cretan village, olives pick, olive oil production, Cretan wine, honey production, distillation of “raki” - “tsikoudia”, and Cretan cuisine, culture, history and tradition. You will also learn about the "secret school", when Crete was under Ottoman occupation.
First stop is at Ano Vouves, to the unique 3000 years old olive tree which is still productive.
Our next stop is Anoskeli, where you will learn all about the production of olive oil, as we visit Anoskeli's olive mill and winery. There you will have the chance to taste the organic extra virgin olive oil, spread on warm bread with oregano, salt and lemon juice. Continue with a winery experience by trying 5 different labels of local wine, accompanied by Cretan snacks.
We then head on to Mesavlia - Deliana Gorge, which is a unique example of wild Cretan nature. After the recent storms the road has been destroyed and all the scenery has changed. You will be able to take photos at gorge's entrance and a few minutes later you will enjoy the gorge's view from above. If your in luck you will see local mountain goats and watch the vultures fly from their nests up to the sky.
Returning from the Mesavlia we stop at Anoskeli village for lunch. You will get the chance to enjoy tastes of Greek cuisine, wine and hospitality.
In our last stop at Spilia, before we return you to your hotel, we will visit the “Saint John the Hermit” cave and you will enjoy the view from the nature belvedere.
