General information

Tavronitis Beach is a charming shore located 20 km west of Chania Town. It belongs to the traditional Cretan farming village of the same name, set on the northern coast of Crete. The village was named after the Tavronitis River, which flows in the region.

Tavronitis Beach is a long, pebbly shore, part of a large coast that extends from Kolimbari Beach to Stalos Beach. The place has not been extremely affected by mass tourism and is generally secluded and vacant, but it is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, where you can sit and enjoy the sun. Alternatively, you can rest under the natural shade provided by the tamarisk trees adorning the beach. Don’t miss the chance to swim in the shallow pebble-floored waters while admiring the lovely view of the bare mountains of the Kissamos peninsula, stretching northwards on the left of the beach. You can also stroll around the charming, flat farmlands located behind it.

If you are interested in a relaxing, comfortable stay, you can reside at one of the deluxe villas available in the area. Across the coast, you will find several beachfront taverns where you can taste traditional dishes and rent amenities. The small village community also has a bank, a supermarket, and a cake shop, while the highly developed town of Platanias is just a few-minute drive to the east.
