General information

Grammeno, a popular weekend getaway for the people of Chania, is a small beach located 75 km southwest of Chania Town and 5 km from Paleochora.

It consists of two beaches, each one with its own distinctive features. The one to the east of Cape Grammeno is a pebbled beach with pristine blue waters. It is well organized, with umbrellas, sunbeds and showers, while there is also a canteen and some accommodation options nearby.

To the west of the promontory, you will find a completely different sandy beach with shallow waters. It has umbrellas and sunbeds, as well as an organized camping site. The promontory itself is a very nice spot for a walk, as it boasts a lush juniper grove; if you go there, however, you need to be careful, as the branches are quite fragile.

Further facilities and accommodation options can be found in Paleochora. Next to Grammeno, there are many other small coves where you can enjoy some privacy and solitude, including Krios, Pahia Ammos and Psilos Volakas.
