29th Athens International Film Festival - Opening Nights

The annual Athens International Film Festival will begin its 29th Opening Nights screenings in various historic theaters all over the region of Attica, starting on September 27th and wrapping up on October 9th, 2023!

Since its inception in September of 1995, the Athens International Film Festival has shown its determination to boost devoted filmmakers and actors of the underground cinema world, as well as showcase less popular film genres to a wider audience! Hosting movie screenings of popular and up-and-coming productions, the festival provides visitors with early access to some of the finest films of the year! Various venues will host screenings, including the Athens Concert Hall and the Municipal Theater of Piraeus.

This film festival will start by broadcasting two brand-new premiers, the movies Strange Way Of Life and Past Lives, both of which captivated film critics and the audience at the Cannes Film Festival! On top of that, other film screenings will include Goos by Flora Ilia, Pick A Hand by Stavros Kostopoulos, Matria by Álvaro Gago, Lost Country by Vladimir Perišić, and Sofia Copolla’s Priscilla, a biographical drama based on the story between rock ‘n’ roll megastar Elvis Presley and his ex-wife!
