Athens Art Book Fair 2024

Established in 2019, the Athens Art Book Fair is a dynamic artist-run initiative aiming to bring together and exhibit art publications produced not only in Greece but also internationally. This year, it is to take place in the labyrinthine Stoa Tristrato in the heart of Athens, opening itself to the public space for the very first time with over 150 artists and publishers from Greece and another 35 countries!

Between the 4th and the 6th of October 2024, visitors will have the chance to explore a broad and polyphonic range of independent publishing practices, including fanzines, visual arts publications, photobooks, independent magazines, monographs, poetry collections, pieces of research and art criticism, as well as other noncategorizable publishing experimentations. The main exhibition is complemented by a series of informative interactive events involving sound, performance, experimental music, talks and workshops, which seek to show the new wave of art publications in a new light.

Among the highlights of the festival is the Out of the Grid exhibition, which presents a selection of 100 Italian zines that came out between 1978 and 2006, touching on social, political and aesthetic changes in self-publishing and reflecting developments in Italian society, especially youth culture. If you’re an art lover, don’t miss the international art book fairs which will be hosted within the framework of the festival, as well as a series of engaging presentations from such Asian countries as India, China and Taiwan.

The venue can be easily accessed from the Panepistimio metro station, through the entrances at 29 Stadiou Str., 6 Aristidou Str. and 6 Dragatsaniou Str.
