General information

Located in the picturesque area of Kato Sounio, Port Arthur is a hidden gem mostly known to the locals. It is a serene beach strewn with sand and pebbles, but it can also get quite rocky in places. Though it is a great place for swimming and sunbathing, the rocks mean it may not be suitable for families with little children, unless they have good swimming skills.

Port Arthur is not organized and has no beach amenities, so you will need to come prepared with all the necessary equipment. However, within a short distance, there are several hotels, accommodations, and nice taverns where you can enjoy traditional Greek recipes. For an unforgettable day, you can combine your visit to Port Arthur with the nearby ancient Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, or explore the wider area’s hiking trails, many of which offer breathtaking views of the Saronic Gulf.
