Kalymnos Villages

Location: On the southern side of the island
Description: Pothia is the capital and main port of the island. It is a densely populated town stretching around a bay, surrounded by mountainsides.

Location: 8 km northwest of Pothia
Description: Myrties is a picturesque seaside village that gets pretty busy in summer. From there, excursion boats depart for the neighboring island of Telendos.

Location: 13 km northeast of Pothia
Description: The lovely houses of Vathy are scattered over a fertile valley, surrounded by imposing hills that form a narrow fjord-like inlet. The area abounds in sights, including the fortified church of Panagia Kyra Psili and the ruins of ancient settlements.

Location: 9 km northwest of Pothia
Description: Massouri is a quaint village that attracts lots of people in summer. It has a lovely beach and interesting sights can be found near it. 

Location: 5 km north west of Pothia
Description: This is a calm tourist resort that streches around a sandy bay. Some hotels and fish taverns line the beach.

Location: 24 km northwest of Pothia
Description: Emporios is a nice and quiet village on the northern side of Kalymnos. Its few inhabitants are engaged in fishing and agriculture.

Location: 3 km northwest of Pothia
Description: Also known as Chora, Chorio used to be the island’s capital for many centuries. Around Chorio lie some of Kalymnos’ most significant sights, such as an impressive medieval castle.
